The aim of this is to allow people driving in front of the vehicle (ambulance) to see the word "AMBULANCE" when he/she looks in the rear view mirror. If the word was not reversed, the driver of the car ahead of the vehicle would see: "ECNALUBMA"
The word AMBULANCE is written backwards on the front of the ambulance so that drivers looking in their rear view mirrors can clearly see the vehicle is an ambulance. This is also done in Europe with fire apparatus.
so that people can read it in there rear view mirror.
Vertical symetry.
A H I M O T U V W X Y (y depends on font)
i m o u v w x ( m and w depend on font)
The 'AMBULANCE' banner is a mirror image so that when I come up behind you and you look in your rearview mirror and read 'AMBULANCE' you will get the hell out of my way!
So that you can read and recognize it in your rear-view mirror
This is because the word AMBULANCE can be read through a rearview mirror of the vehicle in front of it.
So you can read it in a cars rear view mirror.
im assuming that you mean the livery on vehicles. I cant find a specific date but i know that the livery was done this way because vehicle drivers may not be able to read the word when an ambulance is behind them. Because of this, they may worry that it might be a police vehicle.
Reflection refers to seeing something through something else-- such as a mirror. Have you ever looked in your rear view mirror at the front of an ambulance and realized that the word "Ambulance" could be read easily? That is because it is written backwards on the vehicle. The word in the reflection is correct . . . without the use of the mirror, it is unreadable.
The word ambulance on an ambulance is backwards because when you're in front of an ambulance and there's an emergency you would usually see from your rear view mirror. When you see something in a mirror it is always backwards. so when you see the word ambulance on an ambulance, you would see it normally.
The word "Ambulance" is printed backwards on the front of the ambulance so you can read it in the mirror the right way around

When someone looks in their rearview mirror they can see the word because it is written in reverse. Thanks,RP
So that if you see it in your rear-view mirror, you can read it instantly, and pull over to let the ambulance go by (which is the law in most if not all states).
So that a driver can see the word Ambulance correctly in his rear-vision mirror.
So a driver in front of an ambulance can read the word when they look in the rear view mirror
