This is my reason, I'm 18 years old. I only smoked pot my teenage years, and sometimes the teenagers gets under stress, influences, or they might see their parents do it. Best way to prevent your teenager from doing this is to not be over-protected but just watch for signs, and if they have signs of doing drugs, take them to a close hospital, and get them drug tested, if they come up positive for drugs, do not yell at them, that would put them under more pressure, the best way to handle a situation like this is, sit with them, talk to them, ask them what makes them want to do illegal drugs, ask if they need help, and tell the teenager that they lost full trust and they must gain it back, and show them that your disappointed in them, but don't yell or scream. A few tears, just show the teenager that it really hurts you that their doing illegal drugs. I know, I'm a teenager that's writing this, but this question was unanswered and I learn that doing illegal drugs is not cool at all. But for parents who loves their kids, I hope this helps you out because when I got random drug tested, I got yelled at, screamed, and it got me to do it even more. And what got me influenced to smoke weed was my friends so watch out for the kids that they hang out with. I hope this helps out. Thank you.
