Catholic AnswerCatholic means Christian, Our Blessed Lord established the Catholic Church two thousand years ago, if you are asking why you ask a Christian question and are not getting a protestant answer, then you need to ask a protestant question. In your question you say Christian means Christ not Catholic. This is a mistake. Our Blessed Lord only founded one Church (His words, not mine) and guaranteed it until the end of the world. It is His Mystical Body, and He set St. Peter as its first Vicar, and guaranteed him and his successors, that the gates of hell would not prevail against it. He then set the Holy Spirit to guide it into all truth. Christian means that you are following Christ, in other words, Christian means that you are a member of the Catholic Church. People outside the visible Church may be Christians to the extent that they are validly baptized and believe in the Nicene Creed in its traditional interpretation, but only then. To be a protestant is not necessarily a Christian. It is to be a follower of heretics who left the Catholic Church in the sixteenth century and formed their own outside of the One Church which Our Blessed Savior founded.Yes, John Cooper of Skillet is a Christian.

Catholic churces almost always have the word Catholic in their name.

The word Christian is used in the present day west by some to distinguish people who believe in Christ but are not Catholics from the Catholics, but this is a misuse of an ancient term. For fifteen centuries the only "Christians" in the world were "Catholics". It is only in the past couple centuries, and only in the western world which was settled by Protestants, that the term has come to be applied by Protestants to Protestants. But be assured that there have been Catholic Christians since the time of Christ. Which one is better would be a very decisive answer. The Church has always held that Protestants have rejected part of Christ's message, and thus cut themselves off from avenues of grace that Christ has established in His Church. Which would obviously mean that being a Catholic Christian was the fullness of believing in God. A protestant who has been taught all his life that the Church is wrong would believe that it was better to be a Christian without involving the "Catholic" part.
