When an object drops on the floor, the kinetic energy that collects as it falls is converted into oscillatory (vibratory) energy which disturbs the particles in the solid, breaking the bonds holding the particles together. The way in which something breaks depends on the point of impact and the height of the drop.

They can't fall through the ground can they. Yes, they can't fall through the ground. If I answer the question like this, is that correct? because air cannot provide a force that opposite to the gravity.

It's because of the Gravity on the earth. The gravity on the Earth forces things to

come to the ground,it pulls things and other object's to the earth. The Gravity on

the Earth does not just pull things stuff or objects to the ground, it pulls

animals, people, and even you. That's why when you jump, you fall back down to the

ground or when you do a cannon ball at the pool you jump and gravity pulls you

down into the water making a powerful splash,or sky diving when you jump out of

the plane the pull of earths gravity pulls you back to earth.

In space there is no gravity, also known as zero gravity. So, in space you would float

in mid-air.

The earth is facing everywhere because it's spherical and if there are people that

are at the bottom of the earth and are upside down they can't fall because the

gravity on the earth keeps you from falling and also everything looks normal.

By the way ... things don't necessarily "stay on the ground". It's pretty easy to pick

up a pencil or a puppy off the ground. All you have to do is provide a force that's

stronger than the gravitational force. You do it all the time, like when you get up

off your bed in the morning, or walk up some stairs.

Is the following sentence grammatically correct He's gone down and he's not put his hands out to break his fall?

The only thing wrong with this sentence is that both parts of the sentence are in present perfect. Rewriting the sentence without contractions: "He has gone down, and he has not put his hands out to break his fall". One wouldn't say this. One would say, "He has gone down, and he did not put his hands out to break his fall"; or "He went down, and he did not put his hands out to break his fall".
