IF you are using seed that is old ( from last year or older ) chances are the seed is dead. Time to buy new seed.
If you planted and did not water at a critical stage, ( when it was germinating ) you may have killed it.
If the soil has motor oil or some other contaminant in it, it will kill the seed.
If you are saving your seed, and planting it again the next year, and they do not produce, then you originally bought genetically modified seed. They ( Monsanto ) put a gene into the seed telling it NOT to reproduce. This is what they have done to the farmer. Enticed them to use their seed, because it produces bigger ears of corn, or more wheat, etc . . . BUT, they have to buy new seed every year. This is how the seed companies are assured that they will keep selling seed.
Farmers used to set aside seed to plant the next year, but the GM seed is not fertile. Now they are trapped in a vicious circle. Sometimes technology is not so good.
