Technically, no. Bugs are specific types of insects. E.g., butterflies are insects, but not bugs. Lightning 'bugs' are beetles. WHOA,first guy who answered,if your t…rying to say lightning bugs are not insects, you are WRONG.beetles are insects.(shame me if its not what you ment) Actually I'm pretty sure they are. The word bug, by definition is any insect or insectlike invertebrate -www.dictionary.refrence.com Actually what dictionary.reference.com said was that was a "loose" meaning, which would include many species that are not even insects. … Which is why I said "technically". They are bugs in an informal usage sense only. You will not see lightning "bugs" referred to as bugs in any entomology text.

the function of the antenna on a lightning bug is.....to know when there is an enemy coming or it is like a remote can connect to remote control car...while the bugs antenna… is to know when there is a enemy coming..
Get a flashlight! Flash it for a split second, then turn it off. Naturally, a firefly will see the flash and respond.
Lightning bugs are afraid of bug spray, it can kill them too, and extreme light. They will almost always avoid search and spotlights. They are also afraid of loud sounds.
It means that it isn't a bed bug is is something else. Like something that just apparently got in a form of way by either flying or walking.
