Suspension is the most likely cause of your knock when turning. The part responsible is probably your tie rod, which is what allows you to turn the steering knuckle. They are inexpensive and easily replaced. You can avoid an alignment fee by being careful with your measurements during replacement.

many many things, Loose lug nuts which lets wheel make knocking noise. Engine will make a knocking noise if it is really low on oil. Some timing belts make a knocking, slapping noise just before they break.These are just a few examples . Have someone ride in car with you as you duplcate the noise and see if they can determine which part of the vehicle it is coming from.
If your car makes a squealing sound when you are turning it is because your brakes have worn out. When the brakes wear down below a certain point, a wire pops loose. That makes a squeaking sound.
