Why does Answers.com not default to a web based search if it does not have any material on a subject?

It does default to a Web Search. Since Answers.com contains over 4 million topics, is it possible you're getting results, just not the ones you want? And, you can always use the do a Web search for your word with the drop down menu next to the word Search.
