The Torah describes the criteria which distinguish the animals, fish, and birds that are

acceptable to be eaten by Jews, from those that aren't, along with several examples of each. Foods prohibited to Jews include shellfish, vulture, pig, and grasshopper, among others. The reason stated in the Torah (Leviticus ch.11) is in order to be holy.

Eating pork is a Jewish Torah-law, but in modern days many Jews in the reform movement decide to not follow this law.

Answer 2

Most probably because it's easily available and they like the taste.

Not all Jews observe the laws of their God-given Torah. Non-observance may be related to assimilation, lack of knowledge, peer pressure, or other factors. Any Jews who do eat pork are not acting in a manner that is representative of Judaism. The source for Judaism is the Torah, which commands us not to eat pork (Deuteronomy ch.14).Note also that in Israel, where the majority of the world's Jews live, only a small minority of the population eats pork.

Leviticus 11 teaches Jews that only certain animals are considered food animals. As for land mammals, they must chew their cud and have a split hoof. Pigs do not chew their cud.

Pigs are specifically mentioned in Leviticus 11:7 →

And the swine, because he parteth the hoof, and is cloven-footed, but cheweth not the cud, he is unclean unto you.

The Torah forbids it (Deuteronomy ch.14) as it says it is ritually unfit.
