Because Porsche wants its race cars to look like their street cars. It costs too much to run Formula 1 and Porsche never did well in it. According to Wikipedia, cars made by Porsche or engined by Porsche have won over 28,000 races in all forms of motorsport. Of those 28,000 races, only two of them were Formula 1 races - and one of those was a non-points race.
