Why is your tummy big?

Your tummy gets fat when you consume more calories (energy) than you use. This is because the excess energy is stored as fat cells, often on your belly.

For example, I am a 14 year old boy that eats quite a lot of unhealthy foods and doesn't do much exercise. The left over energy is stored as fat mainly on my tummy, but also on my thighs, hips and buttocks. So it's not just your tummy, but I have wobbly, squishy fat in more than one place.

Because most ot your fat is stored there. Why MY tummy is so big is because I am a 13 year old who eats a lot and doesn't exercise. So my tummy is big and round, and when I poke it it goes in.

Your belly grows if you eat more than your body uses for energy or if you get pregnant.

There are exceptions like gas and water retention though.

Some people have big stomachs because they eat too much and it causes the stomach to stretch out and extend.
