Umm... I'm not sure what you mean by wrinkly? Maybe the oil is boiling, or maybe the oil is acting like a thin film refracting the light similar to the effect where it looks like there water on the road on a hot day.
I think "crawling oil" is oil in a pan that "crawls" away from the hot center of the pan when it gets really hot.
The oil pan is at the bottom of the engine. Look under the car, there it is. It holds the oil pump and the oil.

Under the engine and on top of the oil pan? Well, it could be a oil pan gasket. Check 'er out.
It is on the bottom of the engine, when you lay down under the engine and look at the bottom of the engine, The oil pan is what your looking at.
Look at the bottom or side of the oil pan, but usually at the bottom rear of the oil pan "toward the back of the car"
It is inside the oil pan.. Lay down look at the oil pan you will see a cap that you have to remove..
It is in the oil pan, and the oil pan is bolted to the bottom of the engine. Just look around the sides and bottom of it and you will see a bolt that is screewed into the oil pan. That will be the drain plug.
Slide up under the engine and look at the bottom of it and that will be the oil pan that you are looking at.
Near the rear of the pan. It is there, you need to look more closely.
Look for oil spots on the ground where your car is parked. Generally at the oil pan or the differential box.
look under front bumper at underside of engine,look back you will see a black rounded box looking pan, the first one is your oil pan ,look further back you will see another pan that one is your automatic transmission pan ( if you have automatic).
