Can be a fuel pump or leak in fuel line. Does it start better if you turn on key and make a longer pause before trying to start the engine?
When you turn on ignition -- fuel pump gets powered and starts cranking pressure to high PSI. Fuel line with no leaks should hold pressure for a very long time even with ignition off.
If you have a leak -- fix it ASAP.
By the way, from personal experience -- lift your back seat and open a flap on a floor carpet that is right below rear right passenger's seat -- there is a connector for fuel pump power. Look at the wire that comes from a screw (ground). In my car the screw was rusted all through. Replacing it and putting it into a new spot nearby really helped in my case.
