In Ford F-150
It depends if you have ecoboost on because ecoboost sometimes slips your gears.

Is the 1991 Ford Aerostar electronic all wheel drive on all the time or only active in slipping conditions?
\n. \n Answer \n. \nall wheel drive is active all of the time\n. \n Answer \n. \nI have not heard of the all wheel drive , I have the 94 electronic 4 wheel drive , it is only active in loss off traction !!\nGood Luck !\n. \n Answer \n. \n. \nThe electronic 4wheel drive is automati…c. When there is little to no load on the engine when it is in gear, it triggers an electric sensor switch (hence the name "electric four wheel drive") that engages the rear wheels. You will know when it's working. It will only tell you if four wheel drive has a problem, not whether or not it is on. You will feel it kick and then you start moving. I drove through an underpass that was in about 1' deep water, and as soon as i pushed the pedal and the front wheels slipped, it kinda jerked and the rear wheels started spinning as well. I hope that answers your question. \n. \nMatt Hecker of Springfield Oregon\n. \nI have an electronic 4WD Aerostar..a 1997. I understand that the 4WD it is active all the time with a 30% front and 70% rear power delivery to the wheels under dry-road conditions. When there is a loss of traction (e.g. if you're suddenly on a patch of ice), and the wheels skid, the power distribution becomes 50% rear, 50% front. On mine, there is an alarming jerk in the transmission, like you've gone over a railroad track. I'm not sure whether this is normal or not. However, at low speeds the aerostar is terrific in snow...I've driven though a snow covered ploughed field with it...it's awesome. (MORE)
I recently replaced both rotors on my 97. You have to separate the rotor from the hub. They are actually 2 separate pieces.
BIG JOB Get a manual on your car from DISCOUNTAUTOREPAIRMANUALS.COM and it has pictures .
On a 1993 Mercury Tracer wont start out in low gear and wont shift into over drive had serviced didn't help no slipping in trans what else can be done?
You might check your vehicle speed sensor. My 1997 Tracer is acting up along the same lines.
from what i can tell this is very common in the tracer. this exact problem drove me up the wall until someone changed the firing order of the spark plug wires........and the problem seemingly went away for over 2 years. now it's back, and that's the first place I'm investigating to fix the problem.
Will a 4 speed out of a Ford F-250 with a 460 cid engine fit a ford f-150 with a 351 HO cid auto trans?
No. You need a transmission for a 351 (5.8L) windsor, 302 (5.0L) or 300 (4.9L)6 cylinder. The 460 Trans will fit a 460, 429, 400, or 351 M or Modified. The 351M is a big block. Your 351 HO is a 351 W or Windsor. It's a small block. answer not all ho were windsor but you may have to change bell h…ousing then it will fit (MORE)
Will a 4.0L engine from a 1991 ford explorer 4X4 slip into a 1994 2.3L two wheel drive with a little bit of tweaking to the mounts?
Answer . There are a lot of things you would need to do to make it work if it needs to be smog legal. different computer, wiring would be different, motor mounts,I don't know about the tranny. Are the starters on the same side? They put 4.0's in rangers already so all the parts will be readily a…vailable. It is very doable and not very expensive. (MORE)
After the trany on a 1983 ford ranger pickup warms up why would it not have reverse and acts like it slips into neutral while driving and you slow down it slips back into gear?
Answer . \nSounds like it's the torque converter to me..............it is connected to the flywheel of the engine and pumps the fluid through the tranny. It may have lost it's effectiveness to pump fluid.
Answer . Definitely could be low. Best money you can spend for this car, provided you haven't burned it too much, is to have the transmission flushed. Not the old, drop the pan put in a new filter routine, but spend about $80 for a flush. Helps this particular car the most. Good luck.
well there coould be a few different things the bands might need adjusting or just the fluid be changed. i would start with the fluid if it hasn't been changed. i work on transmissions every day that's what i do if u don't feel comfortable doing it yourself check with your local bbb they can recomen…d a trustworthy company. but if you do do it yourself and it has never been changed before you will find a plunger in the pan don't freak out about it just throw it away that's something they put in at the factory during assembly. and also look on the pan and see if it has a reuseable gasket it will say on the pan. if not request a cork one when you get the filter. they work the best. and it will take approxamatly 5.5 qts of fluid put in about 3 then start the car then add another 2 run the car thru the gears then check several times cause it will fluctuate.well that's about all i can do to help. hope it does (MORE)
Answer . Mark driveshaft, yoke and splines so they are replaced at the same position to maintain factory balance. Remove small "u" bolts at yoke Pry driveshaft out of yoke and onto splines Drop driveshaft and slide off splines
1986 Chevy C10 with 350 turbo trans. it slips at a stop won't hold in place slips until rpms are up and acts like it slips in and out of gear when driving at a steady rpm?
try replacing the modulator it only cost about 15 dollars The modulator is a hip shot for the most part when the modulator goes bad the tail pipe smokes blue with trans fluid going right out the exhaust and tranny shifts erratic and harsh , that's a sure sign of a bad modulator, I used to race my C…hevy turbo 350 with the modulator vacumn line off to give it a more pronounced (harsh)shift when it was floored(WOT) wide open throttle as they say in todays world. This seems to be more of a clogged tranny filter which is located inside the trans pan...drop pan and fluid....when you take down the filter spray out the valve body with a can of "Brake Clean" check for loose bolts in the valve body refer to specs in inche pounds and retorque gently don't forget they are only 1/4 X 20 bolts that snap heads easily...replace the fluid and add some conditioner to the trans at the same time, make sure ya have a clean tight seal on the pan and up it goes....put in two quarts of Dexron and recheck with the engine running at idle warm, keep slowly adding fluid through the trans. dipstick tube until it hits the full mark... put in the trans. ( conditioner with the first 2 quarts of fluid. Good luck hope this bails you out,(by the way the modulator valve is adjustable if it is the large "can" type but don't worry about that until you do the fluid first and if there is no change), work with a Chevy tech if you can team up with an old timer from the 70,s cars. What would cause a 1989 Honda accord at trans to slip out of gear while driving you can put it in n turn the car off then crank it bake up put it bake in drive and it will go?
They had problems with seals in the trany going hard over the years. I'm guessing it's time for a rebuild.
If your Cherokee isn't functioning right in reverse then you mayhave a bad transmission. You should contact a professional abouthaving it rebuilt.
if you have the owner handbook, it will tell you how to read the vin .that will tell you what rear end you have
What would cause a 1988 Ford Bronco to slip out of 4 wheel drive into neutral after going 1 mile in 4 wheel drive?
you probably didnt have it engaged properly. that's happened to me on my friends bronco.
The 2000 F150 owners manual shows Motorcraft MERCON automatic transmission. fluid in the 5 speed manual transmission ( YES - ATF ! )
What would you say the problem was for an automatic 1998 Ford Windstar that slips out of gear completely then goes back once you restart it drives for about 15-30 feet and then slips out again?
Had the same exact problem on my 97 Windstar. I noticed the longer I let the vehicle cool down, the longer it would be before the problem happened again. So chances are, the problem is something overheating. Some oninion on the net pointed to the solinoid, but I haven't been able to verify that.
START WITH A NEW CLUTCH--- have it inspected every 35,000 miles by professional--- and have adjustments on free play corrected then---- only way as it is a normal friction wearing device----- like you brakes lining
E4OD. E4OD was used 1989-97 in many full-size Ford trucks. 1997 was a transition year where either a E4OD or a 4R100 could be found in any particular vehicle.. This is a computer controlled rear wheel drive overdrive transmission.. The 4R100 is the replacement for the E4OD but most parts are N…OT interchangeable.. Rear cooler line is the cooler return line.. Band adjustment: Intermediate = not adjustable Reverse = Not used. Gear Ratios: 2.71:1 1st gear 1.54:1 2nd gear 1.00:1 3rd gear 0.71:1 4th gear ???????? reverse. (MORE)
A slip yoke is when the end of the drive shaft in a RWD vehicle plunges in and out of [most likeley] transmission when rear suspension is flexed.
Why will the brake lights warning lights and backup light not work if fuses are good get power to trans but no further this is a 1981 Ford F-150?
we have turn signals but no back up brake or warning signals we get power to signal switch on transmission but not beyond that point should this modual be changed keep in mind that this is a 1981 ford f150 and if this modual is changed will that help?
The 2001 Ford Focus transmission range sensor is located on theside of the transmission. The sensor will be on the left-hand sideof the transmission.
It is a switch on the transmission that tells the PCM what gear it is in.
Yes , the transmission on a front wheel drive car is called the trans axle
Why would a 1997 ford escort automatic transmission slip out of gear within the first minute of driving?
The shift cable probably needs to be adjusted. Make sure the level of ATF is ample.
i think its to let the engine warm up. because all the cars i have driven seem to avoid overdrive gear until the engine warms up. Witch makes sense because higher rpms keep the oil pressure high so the cold oil witch is hard to pump will reach all components of the engine. it probably helps the tran…smission too but I'm not to sure about that one. but i don't believe its a defect, unless its stays in 3rd gear forever ever at very high rpms, witch you should really avoid on a cold engine. I was looking at the ( 1996 ) Ford F-150 owners manual and it shows for the 5 speed Overdrive manual transmission ( Mazda and ZF ) that you would have to buy ( 4 quarts / 4 liters ) and you would have a little left over
On a 1992 Ford F-150 the AUTOMATIC transmission fluid dipstick is near the firewall on the right side ( passenger side ) of the engine in the engine compartment The manual transmission does not have a dipstick , the fluid level is checked at the fill plug on the transmission underneath the vehicle
How many ots of trans fluid do you put in a 1993 ford ranger two wheel drive manual trans 2.3 litter?
According to ( the ranger station . com ) no spaces ( Tech Library ) 5.6 pints ( that would be 2.8 quarts )
According to www . fuel economy . gov ( no spaces ) For a 2006 Ford F-150 , two wheel drive , 4.2 liter V6 engine , automatic ( 14 city / 19 highway miles per U.S. gallon )
According to one of the Ford websites : The 1993 Ford F-150 , with the 4.9 liter ( 300 cubic inch ) inline six cylinder has a ( 192 * Fahrenheit engine cooling thermostat )
It depends on what kind of car you are searching for. New or second hand. A second hand Ford F150 from the Year 1989 will be sold at $1000 from the owner.
Depending on the condition of the vehicle, a 2001 Ford F-150 can be sold from the price range of $1,200-$11,500. Ford has now released a newer model for this vehicle as well.
Why does my 4.7l sounds like its over reving when taking off and during driving till you hit 50 mph but trans does not slip and horse power is still there?
You didn't say what vehical your 4.7 is in but I have a 80% guessfor you. This is very likely the fan making the noise and it is making thenoise because the fan cluch is in high cool mode. This is caused by three things, the clutch is bad or the under hoodtempurature is high, or someone has replac…ed the clutch with onethat is suposed to rotate the other way. 4.7 L Dodges can create high under hood temps when A head gasketfails and when you get going the fan cools down and cuts out. It usually comes as an option but with the FX I'm not sure if itcomes standard. You would have to know the VIN number and go toFords web site and enter it in and it should tell you what it camewith from the factory. You can also get the tag number off the axleand take it to a Ford dealer and they can… tell you also. (MORE)
