We need to know what is said is the truth and the way to do that is to fact check. President’s have lied about events to get the country into wars and Nixon lied about his sending men to break into the Democratic headquarters in the Watergate building. This was against the law. Without fact checking and the free press people in power can get away with doing things against the common good of the people.

What are the most important barriers to democracy in the US?

The most important barriers to the US being a democracy is the fact that We the People rarely vote for small things, and the fact that we don't vote at all. Here in the US, we have offical morons who vote for us, and their votes are not effected by what We the People vote for. At least it seems like it....
