Sharks are stream lined by there shape. they can swim very fast due to there streamlineness. they also have reverse scales that pop up when they want to stop quickly like many little parachutes.

Streamlining allows the shark to swim at a given speed with less physical exertion. Since an organism never really knows what its energy reserves are going to be, it is always prudent to prepare for possible scarcity, by using energy efficiently.
