Because the Republican party agenda best serves CEO Rupert Murdoch's and News Corps' investors' power and financial interests. FOX has proven to be an excellent vehicle for "educating" the masses by pandering to their fears and established beliefs, thus influencing the vote. In other words, it's a Propaganda factory.

One reason could be because the other networks are all so ultra left, being mainly responsible for the election of Obama, pandering to him at every turn during the election, while McCain was made to look like a buffoon.

It all depends on who runs the company. Despite what ANY news source tells you, it's going to have its bias's. Of course Fox News Channel's prime time line-up is conservative. It's no secret, they'll tell you they are. Glenn Beck, Bill O'Reilly, Hannity, etc. will all tell you that they are conservative and their shows are simply commentaries on the news that is portrayed in the media. So of course their views are bias. What people have to understand is that there are some shows on Fox News that are conservative opinion shows while others try to be "fair & balanced," mainly the ones where they actually report the news, such as "America's News Headquarters" and "The Special Report." To get back to your original question, one can only speculate. I would surmise that it has a much more conservative line-up then any other news channel because the other seven network news companies all have liberal commentary shows with Fox being the only channel featuring conservative view points out of the eight major news networks. The logic probably is if everyone else is liberal, let's go the other way and be conservative. Afterall, News Corp. CEO Rupert Murdoch (parent company of Fox News) actually endorsed Barack Obama during the 2008 United States presidential election.

With the mainstream news media so obviously left-wing-biased, it makes good business sense to offer the alternative to a major, conservative market.

I think they are trying to attract the liberal market with their programming and then push conservative news upon them with hopes of influencing the market's views.
