Humans are much larger so they have small surface area which creates a greater distances to move the oxygen (O2) & carbon dioxide (CO2), so a special respiratory surface (LUNGS) is needed as well as an internal transport system (CIRCULATORY SYSTEM).
Gas Exchange is necessary because when you inhale, the High concentration of oxygen will diffuse through alveolar and capillary wall into the blood where there is low concentraion of Oxygen to supply the cells. (Remember, any particle will always go from High --> Low)
Same concept when you Exhale, the High concentration of Carbon dioxide diffuse through the walls into the lungs where there is a low concentration of CO2.
This is a brief explaination; hope it helps.
oxygen is not soluble in blood, so it must bind to hemoglobin in order to be transported
exchange of gas takes place just because of following reason ''to provide oxygen to cells and to remove carbon dioxide from cell.both are necessary for life.''
Light is necessary for the exchange of gases in plants.æ Light is what instigates photosynthesis and without photosythesis there can be no gas exchange.
Respiration is a process of gas exchange. Respiration is necessary to supply cells with oxygen for metabolism and to remove the waste by product carbon dioxide.
Am artery
to maintain proper metabolism, mainly gas exchange
Because it speeds up the gas exchange because it has a larger surface area.
Gas exchange is a function of respiration not digestion.
Alveoli is where gas exchange occurs.
It lowers the area available for gas exchange, therefore gas exchange doesn't happen as quickly or as much as it should.
Capillary system is where gas exchange occurs
The exchange surfaces are moist.
gaseous exchange
gas exchange occurs between pulmonary capillaries and the alveoli in the lungs.
