Circuit breakers do the same thing as fuses. They interrupt current flow when a certain preset point is reached. The difference between circuit breakers and fuses are that circuit breakers are resettable and reusable, whereas fuses are one time devices that must be replaced after they blow.

I had the same problem with our 1998 Pontiac GP. Both windows suddenly failed to operate. Checked the circuit breaker, that was fine. Could not find any other type of fuse related to the windows. The answer? The electrical pigtail that should have been plugged into the two window operating switches on the drivers side door had come loose. Once reconnected, all was well. (To access the wiring, just GENTLY pry up the switch panel from the bottom - below the two window switches.)
First thing I'd check is the fuse box. My dryer would sort of warm the clothes, but take forever to dry them. It turned out I had a weak circuit breaker. It would trip, but not vigorously enough to trip the counterpart that was connected to it. It looked like it was on, but it wasn't. Cycling the circuit breakers was good for a couple loads, then it would stop working again. I replaced the circuit breaker and never had another problem.

Too high a resistance is always not a good thing in a circuit. That's what "too high" means.
You can reset a breaker. Fuses are a one time use device. Once they trip or burn out due to a short, they are no good anymore and you need to replace it with a new one.
13 amp breaker. A fuse and circuit breaker perform the exact same function so they should be the exact same size. They protect the wiring within a circuit from overheating and catching on fire. A 13 amp breaker is a superior product that has a good chance of operating between 13 and 13½ amps, while a fuse might not blow until the current reaches 15 amps.

ITS SHOULN'T BE JUST A FUSE IT SHOULD HAVE A CIRCUIT BREAKER TOO. THE CIRCUIT BREAKER OPENS IF YOU HOLD THE SWITCH TOO LONG. ITS 20AMP ON MOST CARS THAT I WORKED ON. ITS IN THE FUSEPANEL ON MUSTANGS. GOOD LUCK PAUL G
A series circuit is one is which all current is restricted to one path. A good example of a device that is series-connected is a circuit breaker.
Check the wire that goes to your break light. Somewhere along the circuit it is grounded before the lamp and after the switch. Look on the circuit from the switch to the lamp. What is happening is, the circuit is good up to the time that you apply the break. This closes that brake light switch, When the switch closes it sees the dead short and not the lamp. The breaker popping is protecting the circuit wiring from burning up.
