It is dangerous because the salt is absorbing a lot of water in your body and most of the salt water comes comes from the ocean and there is a lot of more bacteria which can cause illness or if you have too much of it you could possibly die.....I'm not saying if you go to the beach and you consume some that your gonna die

Salt water has sodium and other mineral salts in it. That is the salt is in the form of Na+ and Cl-. Our bodies also have these in us. But the salt in salt water is in a higher concentration that in our bodies. When we drink salt water, our bodies try to balance this out by adding water to the salt water in our stomachs. So we really lose water and can be come very dehydrated. I know that if I only had salt water to drink, it would be very tempting to drink it, but it would only make things worse and I would become even more thirsty.

The concentration of salt in salt water is much higher than it is in normal water. When you drink salt water it interacts with the water in your cells through a process known as osmosis. The water in your cells leaves your body and enters the salt water. Consequently, your cells dry up and die. Therefore, drinking a large quantity of salt water can lead to death one cell at a time.

I would say yes and no. Yes because if you had no water but ocean water it could be a possibility! No, well because think of all the creatures that swim in it like fish, sharks, Squid, jellyfish and more and more ! so it is a two sided answer!

The salt content of ocean water make it both unpalatable and dangerous to drink.

Ocean water is about three times as salty as your blood, making it impossible for your blood and cells to metabolize safely. Swallowing a bit while swimming is one thing but drinking salt water to slack thirst can rapidly result in seizures, unconsciousness, and even brain damage.

Drinking salt water will dehydrate you and in large amounts can lead to death. But it is safe in small amounts, being that salt is (somewhat) good for the body.
