  • The winner's District gets food for all of the citizens.
  • They're called The Hunger Games because the capitol, and evil, power-hungry form of government, is 'hungry' for the excitement of watching children from their own country kill each other off. Some of the children themselves are blood-thirsty and evil. They're terrible games. The capitol is hungry for death and blood, some of the children are hungry for victory and murder.
  • This one may be a less insightful one, but the tributes are hungry. There is not much food to eat in the arena, so you have to know how to find it, which most of the tributes don't know how to do. They're hungry, and they're battling their hunger on top of the fact that they have to try and find shelter, find water, avoid being killed, and find other resources. They're playing this game while hungry for food as well as, stated above, the death of their enemies, hence HUNGER Games.

The main event is when the gamemakers reveal that both members from a district can win together, but then at the last minute they revoke that rule and Katniss has a plan for her and Peeta to die together so that they will allow them both to win.

The Reaping - one male and female are chosen from each district to enter the games.

Tribute Parade - the tributes are shown to the Capitol for the first time wearing fancy outfits representing their district, being drawn on horse carriages. The president addresses them and congratulates their courage and their sacrifice.

Interviews - each tribute has an interview with Caesar Flickerman to try and win over the people in the Capitol.

Quarter Quell - this happens every 25 years and is a game with a special 'twist.'

Feast - this happens in the games, but not in every game and is where the tributes are offered bags with supplies that they need if they can get them from the Cornucopia.

Bloodbath - the first few minutes of the game in which the most tributes are killed. These are usually weaker tributes who go for weapons and supplies and are killed by more skilled tributes, such as the Careers.
