After the engine has cooled to a certain temp, it should shut off. If it is running constantly, this is an indication the engine is overheating.

well in my cavalier it's in from of the car on the passanger side...you will see it and a green and black wire running to it....
there is something wrong with your car. It's not supposed to run and its not supposed to be hot at the same time. Maybe its running for a fashion contest

with a LOT of fabrication it could be done. Maybe... I have seen a newer cavalier with a caddy northstar V8 in it. There is a video of it running on youtube.
