It was stalling out even while driving at high speeds. I read of three possibilities for this problem.
1. Bad MAP sensor. I replaced this since it was the easiest and least expensive thing to do. It had little to no affect.
2. Bad Crank Position Sensor. This part was $60 and a pain in the butt to get to. I replaced it one month ago, have been driving the car every day, and the problem has not returned. (Hint: It is easier to see this part through the driver side wheel well. You'll need about a 2 foot extension to reach the single bolt holding this part in place and you'll have to remove the tire and plastic wheel well covers.)
3. Unplug the over drive connection from the top of the transmission. Never got to this one since # 2 worked.
A 2007 Chrysler Sebring that will not shift out of Park will probably need a shift solenoid replaced. This is inside the transmission and the transmission might have to be taken out of the vehicle to be fixed.
The air bags might deploy for no reason in a 1997 Chrysler Sebring Convertible if their is a short in the system. It is also possible that a sensor in the bumper was broken somehow.
A broken timing chain is possible.
Chrysler Sebrings are found mostly at used car dealerships since the Sebring is no longer being manufactured as a new vehicle. You can find where they are available by looking through classified ads through your local newspaper, or by driving to each used car dealership.
Dimmer rheostat switch?
You might have air in the coolant system from a recent part {Hose, thermostat, etc} change. It will push the fluid through the hoses where ever it can go...
There are many reasons why your car might vibrate while it is idling. It could be running too hard for example.
You need to have the system hooked up to the gauges to see what the readings are. You MIGHT have a clogged orifice tube, but any good A/c shop will be able to line it out
If the car dies while idling, the timing might be off. Other causes can include a clogged fuel filter or a bad spark plug.
Rule number one don't drive in the rain! You might want to check your Power top fuse and relay in the engine compartment fuse rack. Unless it's a mechanical issue.
need to replace the intake manifold gasket
There are many places one might go to purchase a Chrysler Cordoba. in addition to an official Chrysler dealership, one might also try searching the local classifieds section of the paper.
