∙ 7y agoThese would be "USE BY" or Display until (date) then "USE BY" date. It would not carry a "best before date" as this only means that after this date the products quality as not maintained.
In the United States, the only FDA-regulated food items required under Federal Regulation to have any type of production code are low acid canned foods (LACF) and acidified foods (AF) - and these are for tracking and recall purposes. Infant formula is the only FDA-regulated food that must have an expiration date.
USDA, state and local agencies may have their own regulations regarding date coding.
