Animal cruelty is happening because of a rapidly increasing number of people, invariably cowardly or weak when faced with another person, who find that abusing or injuring animals makes them feel "strong" or "tough".
Some people have mental problems or need anger management. People who have anger problems sometimes take there anger out on animals, rather than people. Than again you have the people who just enjoy seeing animals suffer.
Animal cruelty exists for a couple of different reasons. One reason is people who do not have a respect for animals. Another is because for some businesses, making a little extra money is more important than showing compassion for animals.
Depending on the situation, such as Animal Testing, scientist are lead to believe that by testing on them can find out whether the product or not is safe to use on humans or not, in most cases this isn't true, because like the Animals that they use eg:Albino rats, rabbits, their body structure both eternaly and externally is far more different than that of a human.
This causes results to be less acurate and find that they have to begin experiments again which causes more harm than good.
A good example are cosmetics and such, now what Animal do you see wearing eyeliner, or eye shadow etc?
The above example is a strong one to explain why animals suffer, because we as humans find them to be lowly, emotionless, or even worse not not being able to suffer from pain.
There are many other acts of cruelty but to many to explain here.
