Yes, On the paradise side. Some people consider this the holding area or Hades for those who would go to Heaven before Christ was crucified.
Explaining how the person who was crucified next to him was in paradise with him on the same day with Christ.
There could have been several reasons for the three days in the tomb. Many people think that he must have been unconscious and/or unaware. The Bible tells us that Jesus did not spend those three days in the tomb. He descended to Abraham's Bosom to retrieve the dead saints that had been waiting for thousands of years for his return. The bible also tells us that He visited Hades (hell) but is unclear what he did there. It's possible He conversed with the unrepentant but we just don't know.
Another possibility is that He wanted to get the point across that He really was dead. After three days it was a pretty good guess that He could not be alive. When He was resurrected on the third day and was seen by numerous people it must have made quite an impression on those who witnessed this miracle. Of course there is no way to know for sure and can only make educated guesses. Whatever the reason, God knew in his infinate wisdom, what was best.
Yes, and 3 days. Suggest reading each Gospel account noting that there were 2 Sabbaths during that event - dies around 3 PM on daylight portion of Passover (days begin and end at sunset). Had to be buried before the Annual Sabbath of the 1st Day of Unleavened Bread (sunset that day see Luke 24:44). Rises and is seen on the 1st day of the week (Sunday) during the dark hours - equivalent to our early A.M..
No. Jesus spent only two nights in the grave - Friday and Saturday nights. He rose early on Sunday morning.
No he was not wrong but right as he always is. He was crucified on Thursday, and he spent that night and Friday and Saturday nights in the grave. It is written in John 19.31 that the Sabbath day after Jesus' death was a high day, or a holy convocation, as the Bible talks of in Leviticus 23.4 to 8 and in Exodus 12.14 to 16. So it was not necessarily a Saturday; in fact in the light of Jesus prophecy about Jonah, that day could not have been a Saturday
No! After death there is no second chance. When you are dead physically and spiritually there is no second chance for salvation. In I Peter chapter 3 we are told that Jesus in His spirit went to the place where the fallen angels are kept in chains until the day of judgment and then cast into the Lake of Fire. Jesus went there to proclaim that He had gained a total victory over Satan and all his cronies by dying on the cross. And yes His body lay in the grave for 3 days and 3 nights. Some do believe there is a second chance, but it is not supported by scripture.Another Answer:Yes, as He was fully human and had to do all that humans do. The most common term for 'hell' used is 'Sheol' in the Hebrew and 'Hades' in the Greek and simply means grave or pit. Jesus gave only one sign of His Messiahship, that of Jonah being 3 days and 3 nights in the belly of the great fish (metaphor for grave):Matthew 12:40New King James Version (NKJV) 40 For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the great fish, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.Jesus died so all mankind can have A chance at God's gift of Salvation.
In most cases, you need to spend about 3 years with someone before it is considered cohabitation. This translates to over 1000 nights but other factors are also factored in.
Jesus was dead for three days, as follows. Jesus died on the cross on Good Friday (day 1), He was dead in the tomb on Saturday (day 2) and Sunday (day 3). He arose from the grave on Sunday (day 3). Christians refer to the day of Jesus' death as Good Friday and the day of His resurrection as Easter. The day of Christ's death is referred to as Good Friday because through the pain, and horror of His sacrificial death on the cross came our salvation.
The devil has no power over mankind, and the God family in particular, unless the Father grants it to him (read Book of Job for fuller picture). The term hell you seem to be referring to is simply the grave (pit). Jesus Himself, said He would be 3 days and 3 nights in the grave (like Jonah in the great fish). After these 72 hours, Jesus arose and ascended into Heaven as only He could (John 3:13) and presented Himself to the Father as our 'Wave Sheath' offering for the sins of the World. The Father accepted it and Jesus returned to Earth for 40 more days before ascending again into Heaven until the time of His 2nd Coming in the future.
Jesus did not die on Friday. He actually died on a Wednesday and rose on a Saturday. He spent Wednesday night, Thursday day, Thursday night, Friday day, Friday night, Saturday day in the grave just as he said he would do. "Just as Jonah spent 3 days and 3 nights in the belly of the fish, so the son of man will spend 3 days and 3 nights in the heart of the earth." It is believed that Jesus rose from the dead at 6pm on Saturday so that the prophecy would be fulfilled.Jonah 1:17 (KJV) Now the Lord had prepared a great fish to swallow up Jonah. And Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights.Matthew 12:40 (KJV) For as Jonas was three days and three night's in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.
I don't think so; it is my understanding that - according to the Bible - he arose "on the third day", i.e., counting the day of his death as day #1.
I am not so sure the Story of Jonah is a parable - a short, comparative tale to relay an important message. The Scripture presents Jonah as a real person who had an unusual event happen to him. Even today, Japanese fisherman have discovered a live human inside a large fish (whale in this case). Because they asked Jesus for a sign of His Messiahship, He told them the only sign would be that of Jonah - a comparison or 'parable' of what was about to occur. As Jonah was 3 days and 3 nights in the belly of the great fish, Jesus would be 3 days and 3 nights in the belly of the Earth - the grave or hell. Those who speculate on His dying on a Friday afternoon and rising on an early Sunday morning, apparently denounce this one and only sign given. No matter how one counts, you will never arrive at 3 twelve hour days and 3 twelve hour nights.
3 days 3 nights i believe, she woke up on the fourth day while they where eating breakfast!!!
There isn't one. The Bible is very specific that it was Jesus who was Crucified, Died, and Buried in the Tomb for 3 full days and nights. Then it was Jesus who was Resurrected and after 40 days, ascended to His Father and our Father.
Ten is probably old enough to stop doing that.
