Women's rights increased after World War II because women learned to become independent when virtually all the men entered the armed forces for the duration of the war. Women became more politically saavy as well as financially independent. More women continued to work and compete with men for some jobs. They're still trying to earn equal pay for equal work, but are making big political inroads on every level.
The majority of African American descendants had served in the war, and women helped out during the war, so as of result of this, women were viewed as more equal to everyone else.
