It is not that we allow users to give rude answers, it's that a small minority think they can take advantage of a situation in which everyone can participate. What they may not realize is that answers.com takes a very dim view of rude answers. In fact, we call it vandalism. You know... like someone deliberately defacing bridges or walls by spray painting dumb, vulgar, silly, obscenestuff on them. Though vandals may think it is funny to be so rude and disrespectful, they may not be laughing when their remarks are removed and continued vandalism of the site results in them being blocked from the site, either temporarily to let them have a chance to come back and play by the rules, or permanently.
