It sounds like you have got something on your mind that is worrying you. You feel like whatever you do or say you can't get this certain thing off your mind. This can be classed as depression because this worry is bringing you down. But, the thing is you shouldn't let it bring you down. You need to do something about it. Whatever it may be there must be something you can do to get it off your mind. Try talking to someone really close to you about your problem. Share exsperiences, maybe the person you are talking to has had this problem before. Or maybe they haven't but they can still help. Have a good cry and think about the positive side. Spend sometime relaxing, reading a book or watching your favourite programme. Even try drawing your emotions on a piece of paper getting all your feelings out.
If you haven't got anything on your mind or this thing isn't on your mind anymore and you are still feeling like this then you have to really think about you, what you want to do. Maybe you can go out somewhere with your mates. Getting out more really will help, meeting new people and finding out new things really helps too!
I have had times when I have felt really depressed, but I decided I wasn't going to let my problems bother me, I was going to have fun, relax and when I get the chance to sort out my problems I will do that. But for now, live life, have fun, and remember you are important and like everyone else even though you are feeling depressed you will get over it and enjoy life to the full!
Sometimes people just feel glum and there's no big deal about that - but since you say "always," I think it's likely more than that. You could have depression - has this been going on for a while (a few months, for instance)? Do you feel like you're not enjoying things you used to like to do (like hang out with your friends)? Do you have any problems sleeping (not being able to sleep, or sleeping too much)? Have you noticed any changes in your appetite? All of these are signs of depression. Another would be if your sadness - or even a sudden lack of interest in things and desire to engage in activities you used to like, it doesn't have to be just sadness - is distracting you often, and it's hard to ignore or shrug it off: if it's debilitating your ability to function, and you can't snap yourself out of it, you need help. Talk to your doctor - they could prescribe you with medication if they think it's appropriate for your case (and if you agree, obviously), or refer you to a good therapist, who can help you deal with your feelings either with or without medication. You might not even need therapy over the long term - it depends on how bad your issues are, and if you have chronic, clinical depression.
I hope you take my advice, and talk to your doctor. :) Depression can be absolutely heartbreaking, but there is help out there to try to alleviate your suffering.
