Sounds like the power brake booster is bad, that is what the master cylinder is bolted too. There is a rubber hose that has a plastic valve in it were it snaps into the booster, Pull that rubber hose out of the booster and off of the engine, Now the end that you took off the engine. You should be able to suck through the line, but not be able to blow through it. If you can then replace the valve, It is a one way valve.
If that is all right then hook hose back up to the engine and start engine, You should hear a major vacuum leak at the valve end, put you finger over the valve and it should stop making noise and engine should smooth out. If it don't the rubber hose must be leaking or the tube on the engine were the hose hooks to is stoped up.
you probably need to change the brake fluid drain it then put new fluid
Sounds like a bad master cylinder, if you push down on pedal with light preasure and pedal goes too far down then push hard and quick to see if it will hold if so cylinder is leaking
You could be pressing the brake pedal too hard. Another reason why it may jerk is because the pull brake is engaged.
Pick a gear that's too heavy to pedal while sitting, get out of the saddle, and push it as hard as you can.
Step down on the brake pedal as far as u can push it without forcing it too hard, then try to press it, if it doesnt work... then you will need to take it in and get a new shifter put it or maybe just the button looked at....
Braking too hard or pushing too hard on the gas pedal.
Braking too hard or pushing too hard on the gas pedal.
An Improper WIPE.. will cause a skid Too much pressure on the gas pedal or brake pedal can cause a skid.
There is a brake switch which is actually behind the brake pedal, the fuse would not have blown its more like the brake switch. Easily fixed too.
well if you are on a bike the pedal is high because your feet need to tuch it.so if your short and you know it then your feet will tuch it.
Brake FluidThat happened to me and it would beep and flash for a little then go away...but after a couple days, it stayed on and turns out it was the brake fluid. It got really hard to stop, I could push the brake pedal all the way down and it barely stopped the car. I would check brake fluid next time just in case. ...OR it could mean you left your E-brake on...maybe it's not down all the way...check that too.
Is that the one directly under the word "Brake"? Yes... it is the brake warning lamp, calling attention to a detected problem with the brakes. First thing to check is the brake fluid levels. Second is that the emergency brake pedal is fully released. Third - could be excessive brake pedal travel - having to push it too far. This might be the brakes are in need of repair / replace. Anything else, have the brake system inspected. See "Related Questions" below for more
