Since an insurance policy is a contract, that which is covered is defined by the language of the contract. If there is not express coverage, sometimes it can be argued that the language is ambiguous and that the ambiguity must be construed in favor of the insured (that is, in a way that finds that there is coverage).

That said, essentially a mattress is a mattress. If your motivation for getting this one is ease or comfort, rather than medical necessity, it seems that your odds are slim to none. However, if a medical professional has prescribed this for a covered medical condition, and will attest to its need, you may have a shot.

Keep in mind, however, that in addition to provisions providing for coverage, insurance policies contain exclusions (items and conditions that are expressly not covered). It may turn out that the mattress falls squarely within an exclusion, such that coverage would not apply.
