A Geico agent told me that they will insure a car upon further review.

He told me that I would first have to purchase liability insurance. Then I would have to email and fax all the relevant documents/pictures regarding the car's damage and repair.

Their services department will then decide if they will insure the car for full coverage.

The department's contact information is different for each state, but I was able a good answer by calling 800-861-8380.

Some companies will let you buy liability insurance. almost none will offer full coverage. A salvage title means the car has already been totalled before.

How can you obtain collision and comprehensive auto insurance on a vehicle with a salvage title in NJ Can you insure it under your homeowner's policy?

Homeowners insurance does not cover vehicles used on public roads. It should not be a problem. Geico insures salvage cars, as do most insurance companies. Just remember the car is worth less as a salvage if it's re-totaled the actual cash value of the car is about 40% less than a comparable clean titled car. And it's easier to re-total the car a 2nd time since it's worth less, so minor damage may re-total it. Lesson: don't pay too much for salvage cars and don't get in an accident! **14Jun11- Just called Geico and they said will insure my Salvage Title here in New Mexico, but will also allow me to add Comprehensive to the policy. The company I am currently with will also insure the vehicle for liability but WILL NOT insure for comprehensive. The choice is to go without comp or switch companies. You decide!

Does state farm insure salvage titles?

Yes they do as long as the car is in as good working condition as a used vehicle. I currently own a salvage title vehicle that was considered salvage through state farm. It only suffered flood damage. I purchased the car and had it fix and now they insure my car. They even let me get full coverage!

What does it mean 'the car is PS title'?

It means that the car was damaged, but was not reported as a salvage title. A PS Title is Pre-Salvage. It is a clean original title on a car that in most cases should have been transferred as a salvage title, but for whatever reason was not.

You bought a used car and when you tried to trade it in they said it has a salvage title six months after you bought the car?

That means that at some point the car was wrecked so severely that the cost to repair it exceeded 75% of the value of the car. The car was therefore totaled and sold to a salvage yard. The salvage yard sold the car to someone who repaired it and sold it with the required salvage title. You should have noticed the salvage title when you bought the car.
