You can not plate silver with iron, so no. (you can cover silver inside iron, but that would be just ridiculous, unless you want to hide the silver)

But if you plate iron with silver, then you can lift the silvery object with magnet. (because the magnet sticks to the iron)

But silver, whatever state it is in (wire, plate, necklace) does not stick to a magnet.

Does silver or gold stick to a magnet?

The short answer is no. Real 9K or more gold is not magnetic, nor is silver. If you find that ur ring or necklace is sticking to a magnet it is plated and is not real.

Will magnet stick to silver plate?

Probably not. You need a ferromagnetic material for a magnet to stick. There are basically three elements that are ferromagnetic: Cobalt [Co]; Nickel [Ni]; & Iron [Fe] (and some esoteric ones too). If the metal alloy that has been plated with silver to make the "silver plate" has enough of these then a magnet will stick, of these, only Nickel is commonly a component of alloys that are plated but often not in concentrations that are sufficient to make it obviously magnetic.

Does silver stick to a magnet?

A magnet does not normally stick to silver. However a current of electricity passing through silver wire will produce a magnetic field around the wire. That electric field would have an effect on a magnet, the principle of a solenoid switch. Copper is usually used in such switches as it is cheaper but silver could be used.

Can you test gold with a magnet?

Yes though it isn't a completely accurate way to test it. If a magnet will stick to it then it is most likely gold plated, but if the magnet doesn't stick to it that doesn't mean that it is not plated just that the base metal isn't mahnetic.
