the question is faulty. if a timing belt what is broken??? is jumped ??? is missing ??? is misaligned????
If it breaks yes it will not start. it usually will turn over a lot faster as well.
if misaligned or jumped making it out of time. no start to back fires when accelerating or just no power at low end speeds.

Found out after a four hundred dollar fuel pump it was a broke timing belt. these engines are contact / so when a timing belt breakes you ben the valves resulting in no compresion so the engine will not start until you replace all the valves and belt with setting up the timing
