Which one would you recommend using between web application and application software and why?

Here are two advantages of a web-based application over a traditional standalone application design:

• A compatible browser provided, users can access the application from a variety of devices and platforms: a PC running a Windows operating system or a smartphone running a Linux-based operating system, etc.
• Server-based software does not require release roll-out in the traditional sense, thus making release of fixes or improvements much easier and cheaper.

However, a standalone application may not require an online internet connection to operate correctly, and privacy is much easier to manage and accomplish in a standalone application.

There can be no general answer to this question, as a standalone application may be the better choice in some cases, and a server-based architecture may be preferable in others.

Both of them have their own pros and cons. Web applications provide users with easy and quick way to solve their problems. They can skip the step to download and install the application on their computer as the web application runs on the browser itself. But not being able to utilize full system resources, they can be very limited.

For problems that require you to have all the system resources for the program itself, application software that installs on your system is preferred.

But the above case is only for the client dependent applications only. Nowadays, thanks to faster internet, many web applications use the processing power of a server than the client. This has thinned the difference between web application and application software in terms of processing power.

Conclusion:
For pure processing power- Application Software
For ease of use- Well it depends on interface of the particular application.
For quickly getting simple tasks done- Web application
If you have slow/unreliable internet: Application Software

But again, the above differences might look totally absurd in the near future. You never how the future technology might unfold!
