Best Answer

That is quite likely. Driving times from Texas across Louisiana and Mississippi are more than 5 hours under the best circumstances. From central or western Texas, flight times are much shorter than driving times even with associated delays (airport waits, car rental, driving to your destination). The exceptions are when travel to or from an airport is lengthy in itself.

Would it be easier for a plane to fly higher in an atmosphere less dense than Earths?

i No, ;it would be easier in denser air. Less dense air gives nothing for the wings of the plane to use to propel itself upwards. Less dense air would make the plane crash.
