Take a look at the front page...policies in the United States always provide a "FREE LOOK" period. Commonly 10 days and 30 days depending on the policy type and age of the insured.

Take a copy of the Front page and the "Policy Specification page" for your records.

Contact the agent- notify him/her that you wish to return the policy and have a full refund of your premiums. The agent should be willing to help you return the policy, though they won't be happy, as they will be hurt financially by having your policy returned "not taken" or "free look". They will have to return any commission, plus the "persistency" for the agent will be hurt, which can lower their pay for service of existing clients if they work for Prudential directly.

Verify the Carriers toll-free phone number and arrange to have the policy returned quickly to the carrier. IF the agent hesitates or delays in any way...be sure to return it immediately yourself.

If returning it yourself:

Mail the policy (if you received it) to the Home office of the insurer immediately. The address will be listed on the policy. Send a signed, dated letter, (providing policy number if possible and policy) to the carrier asking to have all premiums refunded immediately and all future bank drafts stopped immediately regarding the plan. Send the policy and the signed letter to the carrier.
