Your best move would be to talk to a counselor or someone to help you work out your issues with being abused. Abuse takes its toll on people and one of the things it hurts is the ability to have normal relationships with others...until you've sorted out your fears and issues. But you can apologize to the new guy and try to explain where you're coming from and what happened to you.
