Its because you have bought the biggest mistake next to the Excursion Ford has created...this vehicle is a mechanical nightmare. i was a former Ford Design Tech and after MANY MANY debates this vehicle was still brought in production even after ford was warned agaisnt it. SELL IT ASAP...it will countinue to be a re occurring and exspensive mistake. as tho they do look nice that's it. how nice does it look sitting in your driveway for months on end....ford wouldn't even back half of the warranties on these because they were costing them to much....but don't worry we will be bailing them out soon just like GM's broke ass. that's AMERICAN AUTO MAKERS for bending over half the population in this country and even your employees.

When your car is at idle there is no air flow to cool the radiator, but when your car moves the air flow through the radiator cools it down. I would suspect the radiator fan is not coming on when it should. If the fan is working properly the engine temperature should stay fairly constant assuming the thermostat is also working properly.

It stops rising because, when the heat of the ice rises, the temperature just stops
It rises.
A rising of temperature.
The temperature goes up.

Stuck closed thermostat. Replace the thermostat.
The rising of hot air over a radiator is a physical process. It is due to the difference in temperature between the heated air near the radiator and the cooler air in the surrounding environment. As the air near the radiator becomes warmer, it expands and becomes less dense, causing it to rise and be replaced by cooler air. This process, known as convection, is a form of heat transfer.
Engine temperature rising when the engine is idling is normal. The car is sitting still and no air is entering the engine compartment. This will cause the engine temperature to rise. The cooling fans then come on and the engine returns to a normal temperature. Unless the cooling fans do not bring the temperature down, you have no problems and this is totally normal.
... then the temperature gets rising.
