Water in the in distributor cap. Replace it.
Flooded in the river or flooded by gas? Any "check engine lights"? Full gas pedal depression is the normal way to clear gas flooding or first remove the spark plugs and blow out the excess gas.
you flooded it
maybe one of the electrical outlets in the engine got electricuted which made the engine not start.
The engine "floods." With most cars, a flooded engine will not start. The general way to start a flooded engine is to "crank" it while holding the "gas" pedal all the way to the floor for 5-10 seconds. (Just hold it there, don't move it.) This will often clear the excess gas from the combustion chamber.
I had problems on occasion with my first car (1979 Pontiac Firebird) having the engine flooded. (When starting, I "pumped" the gas alot, quite often "flooding the engine".) Naturally, a flooded engine is (darned near) impossible to start. But the "quick fix" I found was to hold the pedal to the floor while turning the ignition. It was eventually able to start and burn the excess gas. Note: This trick only works on carbureted models. So in nutshell: Floor it, turn the ignition. (And try not to pump the gas so much before you start it next time!!!) -Ric
Your car's engine most likely got flooded when the water covered your car.
It's possible that the engine actually died just before the Check Engine and oil pressure lights came on. If that's the case, the problem could be little more than the engine needing a tune-up or its idle speed raised.
If the dash lights come on, but the engine won't start, check the starter. There could also be a problem with the fuel line or the spark plugs. If the engine turns over, but won't start, check all of the fuel sensors. If the motor has a clicking or buzzing sound, check the alternator.
Possibly, You have flooded your engine and you have to wait or you have a flat Glow Lighter. Or you'r actual Car batteries are dead!
If your engine becomes flooded it can be cleared by opening the accelerator to the full throttle position. When the throttle is open all the way and the engine rpm is less than 400 the pcm will close the fuel injectors while the engine is turning over in order to clear excess fuel. When the accelerator is reduced to below about 75 percent the pcm will return to start mode.
depress the brake pedal and turn the engine switch to the start posiiton and start the engine,,, Does this mean to hold the brake down until you hear the engine start.
It wont start
