I think you are mistakenly believing that he is going to make some sort of choice between you and the girlfriend. He has made his choice: it's to keep both of you around, because that is what satisfies his needs most. It's all about his needs--he's indifferent to what you want with him and he's also indifferent to his girlfriend's need to believe that he is truthful and monogamous to her.
On another note, lets say you do end up with him again. You will have 'won' yourself the type of boyfriend who has no problem cheating on and lying to his girlfriend. Are you sure that is what you want? When you accept someone, you can't ignore the parts you don't like. Those issues will always turn up in any relationship with him later on.
