Well, my sister's hamster bit for about two years, and finally, she could not stand it so she told the hamster, "No more treats for you!"

But then, being a pet spoiler, like we all are, gave the hamster a treat, but then I had an idea.

I began to train him almost, to work for the treat, by making him walk to the treat, then moving it again.

Sound like animal cruelty? Read on!

The hamster did not bite anymore.

I guess it felt humbled, like he was not king of the house.

All hamsters are different, but it worked on my hamster too.

If your hamster bites you when you put your hand in her cage and burries does that mean she's pregnant?

How not to scare your hamster?

When first getting a hamster, you should give it a couple of days to adjust. You can start to get to know them by laying your hand in the cage with a treat on it. Your hamster will probably sniff your hand, and then grab the treat. If your hamster bites your hand, pull your hand out of the cage. Keep trying this for a couple of days and your hamster will begin to feel more comfortable around you!

What should you do if your Chinese Dwarf hamster bit you?

How do you make your hamster get used to you?

If it is a new hamster then the best way is to put your hand it's the cage with a treat on it, if the hamster takes the treat and quickly runs away this is fine. Do this a few times every day and you should soon be able to start picking your hamster up without any treats. If hamster bites you whilst you pick it up this is probably because they stressed, or nervous, so just put hamster back in cage.(Don't shake hand to try and get hamser to release grip as you may injur hamster).

What is a bare hand?

A bare hand is a hand without any gloves or other items of clothing on it.

How do you know if your hamster like you?

If you have owned the Hamster from its baby stage and have gently held it at least once a day and gotten it used to your touch (also if you have always made sure your hands were cleaned before you pet or handle them) then you should be in no danger of being bitten.

Do golden hamster bites hurt?

Hamsters sometimes 'nip', if your hand smells of their food, they may test it gently, however as soon as they realise it's not food, they will stop. This doesn't really hurt, there's no force behind the bite. A true hamster bite is deep and painful. Hamsters have two pairs of long incisors, easily capable of sinking into flesh.

When i disturb my hamster from sleeping and eating he never squeals or bites me is this normal?

Apart from the fact that you're not supposed to disturb your hamster when it's sleeping or eating, normally a hamster would bite if you did that. It might be that your hamster is simply not aggressive at all, or on the other hand it could be that it's too weak to defend itself because it's ill. It would be best to take the hamster to the vet's just in case to see there's nothing wrong with it.

What do you do if you have a squirmy hamster?

the best way to introduce your hamster to handling is to let them come to your hand. if you were a hamster you wouldn't want to be grabbed! show that you are not a threat by putting your hand in the cage near the hamster without touching it and slowly moving it away from the hamster. this way your hamster is more likely to come to your hand. avoid quick movements as this will scare your hamster. when your hamster has had enough leave it or it wont come out when you are there. though it may take time, your hamster will gradualy get used to your hand and wont mind being held! i am in the process of taming my fourth hamster at the moment! hope i helped!

How can you get A hamster that does not bite?

pick an hamster that you like you cannot tell if it bites or not if it does is is easy to solve if you basicly just got the hamster leave it in its new cage for a day( its is quite hard to leave it alone but its for the goood) then what you do is but your hand luying flat with treats in it (the hamster will not pick the treats with its teeth it will use its hands) whenit aproches you it will sit on your hand don't strokck it the first Tim then repeat this this time its okey to strock it do htis a few times and put ur hand out with no treats it should come then strock it and there you have it trained to not bite if it dosent work keep repeating the second step until; it does the key to success is to be patiant and be comfortable with it the hamster will not bite unless you have upset it in any way i hope this worked for you it has for me from the annonomous hamster owner or another way is to get a male hamster they r much esier to train they r more gentle and kinder so get a male unless u really want a female trust me males r better i got used to my male right away just give your hamster some food by hand for a few days and after it feels a little settled in its cage and a little more used to u than u can stroke your hamster if it lets u than that is a good sign soon u will learn to hold it and get used to it it should not bite u at this point and if it does it either means u upset it or u just ate something and it thinks u r food. Do not be angry or drop the hamster if it bites becuz it is not the hamsters fault that hamsters have a very good sense of smell and very poor eyesight so be nice to it don't yell at it and it should not bite u r most likely to get a hamster that does not bite as much if u get a male my friends female was biting and it still bites so my friend has to hold it a different way witch doesnt look so comfortable for the hamster so its best u get a male and make sure its healthy besides hamster bites don't hurt much so u will be okay just don't hurt the hamster by another hamster owner who has a hamster that does not bite but did at first PS get a winter white Russian dwarf hamster those are very cute and are nice too i have one=)
