It is possible that it ran out of battery life. Try plugging it into the computer to see if it turns on. If it doesn't turn on, then hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button simultaneously for six seconds. If nothing happens, then take it to an Apple Genius at the Apple Store to see what they can do.
