Cloud computing is a virtual memory database that allows you to save data without any physical memory such as a hard drive. This means you can access all your saved files from the cloud on any computer. For instance lets say you where working on a project on your laptop and instead of saving the project on your laptops hard drive you saved it on a cloud. Your laptop battery dies instead of needing your laptop to access your project you could start up your desktop and access your files from your cloud and get back to work.

Before cloud computing people had to either carry a laptop or a memory card to have anytime access to their files. With a cloud you don't need to worry about taking physical memory with you but its still wise to shave your important files to some sort of physical memory as a back up.
