Froh character

Opera Froh Froh (Wagner: Das Rheingold). Tenor.God of light and joy. Brother of Donner, Fricka, and Freia and brother-in-law of Wotan. He helps Donner rescue Freia from the clutches of the giants. Like his brother, he is devastated by Freia's imminent abduction by the giants, pleads with Wotan to give the giants the gold Ring in payment instead, and is overjoyed to see her return. On Donner's instructions, it is Froh who summons the rainbow bridge across which the gods will walk to Valhalla. Created (1869) by Franz Nachbaur.
