Proteins are long chains of amino-acids. There are 20 different
ones required by humans but 12 of those can be made inside your
body. The other 8 must be eaten in sufficient quantity and are
known as essential amino-acids. Protein is lean meat - muscle
fibre. With no essential amino-acids in your diet, or too little,
you can make little or no muscle. The best and most available
sources for the essential amino-acids, in adequate amounts, are
animal muscle (meat, fish etc.), eggs, and pulses - peas and
beans.
