macronutrients


The major elements essential for plant growth. Plants draw carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen from the air and from water. The principal other macronutrients, which they get from the soil, are nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium, and to a lesser degree sulfur, calcium, and magnesium.
