An emergency shut off is used in some vehicles to stop power to the fuel pump during an accident. The 2002 Dodge Durango does not have an emergency shut off.
A Dodge Durango does not have an inertia switch. The fuel system is computer controlled with relays.
when my 1998 Dodge Durango would start and cut back off, I had to reset the alarm by using the lock / unlock buttons on my key remote.
disconnect the battery to shut off/reset
turn the on the door twice disconnecting battery and reconnecting works when the alarm wont shut off and is ringing

Dodge does not use shut off switches.Dodge does not use shut off switches.
push the lock button on your key fob then the unlock button
The big box you refer to is called the body computer. It is located on the drivers side behind the dash. You can not shut off the alarm or remove the alarm system if it is a factory installed system. You must find the problem and repair it.
I have run into this problem a few times...it took a few times to figure it out but you have to take your key and re-enter it into the driver side key slot. that should disable it. I figured this out at a gas station after my durango's alarm went off for 20 minutes.
Assuming the switches are still working, the factory alarm should shut off if you unlock either the drivers door or liftgate with the key.
My favorite question.......check this out....there is an anti theft device on your Chrysler verhicle.....use your key to unlock your back hatch. that will deactivate your alarm and turn off the auto shut off fuction of your security alarm...same with grand Cherokees. Kyle remember make sure all the doors are locked and the alarm is going off.....then unlock the back hatch. don't ask why i don't know but it always always works lol. good luck. KYLE
