The transmission fluid capacity for a GM turbo 200 R4 transmission is 6 quarts. It should be drained and refilled at least once every two years.
I was wondering the same thing for my 1996. The owners manual says 2.1 quarts but that doesn't come close to full on the dipstick. After changing the fluid/filter the tranny was slipping, I'm up to 4 quarts and still below "cold" on the dipstick but at least the slipping has stopped. I'm thinking at least 5 quarts. I know I drained 4 or 5 quarts out. -Bill-

Probably about 4. Best way to do this is to put in four, run the engine, and check it again. this is a good way to check...but my 94 ranger always needs at least 5 quarts. I have had my ranger for about 6 years now. The Capacity is 5.0 quarts with filter change.
