Based on everything I have read from Brigs and Stratton, and talking with some small engine repair guys I know, the 342cc engine puts out about 11-12hp, and the 420cc engine is about 15hp. Hope this helps.

About 15HP
15hp
a 9.9hp can be converted into a 15hp by putting a 15hp carbi on the 9.9 or the little valve that letts the fuel through can be change to a bigger one off a 15hp but that only makes it a 12hp orso. to make it a 15 you need to change the megaphone or exhast whicth can be done but it is very hard. this gives it more power just like when you powerband on a motobike
The maximum speed of the Isard 300 2cyl 15hp 1961 is 90 miles per hour.
I don't recall right off what the recommended range of compression is for a 15hp Briggs, but 120lbs is certainly sufficient to start and run th engine. If its a 4 stroke it will be around 10.0:1 10-28-08 Right-o, 120 is great. Briggs no longer releases comp ranges, but states a minimum of 60 to run. Depending on model, that's probably a 7:1 or 7.5:1 engine. Briggs are designed w/low comp ratios for durability, resistance to detonation, and low fuel-grade requirements.
It can rage from 1k to 3.5k.
it will probably be around 15HP
